What is Hydroxytyrosol?

olivas didroxi

In the plant kingdom, there are certain type of natural products which are widespread throughout nature known as ‘phenols’. Amongst other features, phenols afford protection against microorganisms (ie. fungus, bacteria etc.). In olives, Hydroxytyrosol (HT) is one of its most relevant phenols. Not surprisingly, the olive tree is a very long-lived tree (500 or 1000+ years).

Hidroxinua®25, is a high concentrate of hydroxytyrosol.

Hydroxytyrosol can also be found in olive oil. Typically, maximum HT concentrations can be found in Extra Virgin Olive oil (EVOO), where the average amount of HT/litre is equivalent to 5 capsules of Hydroxytyrosol, or in the case of Virgin Olive Oil (VOO) to 3 capsules (and 2 capsules in the case of a Refined Olive Oil).
